The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York in Syracuse announced that Dennis Murphy has been hired as the new law enforcement coordinator.

Murphy, who holds a Masters of Science degree in criminal justice, has extensive law enforcement experience. He has been investigating fraud cases for the US Department of Agriculture since March 2016.

He began his career as a law enforcement officer in January 1986 as an officer in the Camillus City Police Department. In October 1990 he moved to the police department of the city of Syracuse, where he worked as a detective, detective sergeant and detective lieutenant. During his time with the SPD, he worked in the crime-fighting, narcotics, sex crimes and serious crimes departments and was an operator on the emergency team for 12 years.

After retiring in April 2012, he worked as a senior detective for the New York State Justice Center, where he ran three offices in the Central New York area of ​​17 counties through July 2015.

Murphy is also a U.S. Navy veteran who served as an intelligence reservist with the Office of Naval Intelligence and then the Defense Intelligence Agency. After September 11, 2001, Murphy volunteered for active duty. He served as a technical representative with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. While on duty, he worked on Operation Green Quest, which was providing protection for the armed forces in the Middle East, and he was assigned to the Office of Special Projects’ special surveillance team that carried out counter-terrorism and espionage operations.

In 2004 he moved to the United States Air Force Reserve as a special agent for the Office of Special Investigations.
