New Delhi: Senior attorney and former Attorney General of India, Harish Salve, recently married London-based artist Caroline Brossard at a private ceremony in a London church. Asia’s richest man, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, also took part in the celebrations virtually and toasted the newlyweds.
For the uninitiated, Salve was named Senior Advocate by the Delhi Supreme Court in 1992. From 1999 to 2002 he was Attorney General for India. His name is linked to a number of high profile cases in the country. Harish Salve represented India before the International Court of Justice in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case in May 2017. The Tata Group and ITC Limited are some of his customers.
Salve is also the legal advisor to Reliance. Ambani picked up a toast from Mumbai and said he was looking forward to partying with the couple in person soon. The billionaire also joked that, as Salve’s best man said, he “had better shell out all the money”.
In a video posted on the microblogging website Twitter, Ambani can be heard saying, “At this point we can hug you, wish you all the best, and I am sure the time is not very far. I look forward to it To see you and all of your friends. This is the same group of people we met at Gleneagles. Hope we don’t allow you to be so easy with a virtual play. As your best man said, you’d better shell out everything the money.”
At the end of his speech, the 63-year-old billionaire said: “We look forward to a great celebration as soon as times become normal. We want to wish you all the best for us all.” The “shell out of all the money” caused a cheer from those present at the ceremony. Salve appreciated the billionaire’s toast and heard “Thank you Mukesh” say on the video.
Note that after separating from his first wife, Meenakshi, 65-year-old Salve remarried in June of this year. They were married for 38 years and have two daughters. Salve’s second wife, Caroline Brossard, is 56 years old and has an 18-year-old daughter from her first marriage.
