On May 20, Chambers USA published its 2021 ranking – a total of 28 lawyers from Parsons Behle & Latimer were among the best lawyers in the country. In Reno, Chambers specifically paid tribute to attorney Jim B. Butler in his top rankings in Volume 1 in Environmental Law.
Chambers also recognized the Nevada office of Parsons Behle & Latimer in its Volume 1 top ranking in environmental law.

Prior to joining Parsons Behle & Latimer, Butler worked for the Utah State Energy Office, the Utah State Planning Coordinator’s Office, and was Senior Political Assistant to Utah Governor Scott M. Matheson for Natural Resources from 1981 to 1985. He previously served as a clerk to Judge Stephen H. Anderson of the US Court of Appeals for the 10th District.
Butler earned his BA in 1977 from the University of Utah and a JD in 1987 from the University of Utah College of Law. During his law school he received an Edward Clyde Fellowship and a Marriner S. Eccles Fellowship and was placed in the Order of the. chosen hood. He was also the editor-in-chief of the Utah Law Review.
