Brewer served as a U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California, covering the counties of San Diego and Imperial, since early 2019. However, he has been asked to resign along with other Donald Trump-appointed federal attorneys across the country.

“I am honored to serve as the acting lawyer in the United States. Bob Brewer’s steadfast leadership in these unprecedented times is a prime example, ”said Grossman. “I look forward to continuing the office’s focus on courtesy and ethics as we accomplish our mission to ensure public safety and the fair and impartial administration of justice.”

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Grossman began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the San Diego District Attorney, where he tried more than 70 cases, including homicides and other violent crimes, over an eight-year period.

He then left the office to join two international law firms in private practice.
