COLUMBIA, SC (WBTW) – South Carolina US attorney Peter McCoy said Wednesday that anyone who has traveled from South Carolina to commit destruction at the US Capitol will be prosecuted.

McCoy said federal crimes have been committed and are being prosecuted.

“Let me be very clear: federal crimes were violated in our nation’s Capitol today,” said McCoy. “Anyone who has traveled from the South Carolina district to assist in this travesty or to commit acts of destruction will be prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office in South Carolina.”
